8 Mysterious things that have baffled scientists for years

Turkish Flesh Eating Tombs

These Turkish sarcophagi, located in the ancient city of Assos have an unusual feature: they are able to consume and disintegrate bodies so quickly that the phenomenon still surprises experts today. The tombs known as Çanakkaleare are some 2,700 years old and can break down a body in just 40 days. For comparison, between 50 and 200 years are usually required. Scientists believe that the significant amounts of aluminum in the tombs burn and consume the flesh faster, but this is only a theory which must be proven.
