Deception Island (Antarctica)
Deception Island is a tourist destination of the Antarctic located on the frigid islands of South Shetland and renowned for its research station and whaling today deserted. Due to repeated volcanic eruptions, the fishing station was abandoned several times between 1931 and 1969, leaving behind the old stranded boats and the enormous rusty boilers that can now be seen.
Today, it is possible to enjoy a small boat cruise to have the desert island to oneself! With a little luck, you can even see some penguins and dive in a natural hot bath!
