The wreck of the SS Airfield in Sydney (Australia)
Old industrial hub of Sydney in the early twentieth century, the area of Home bush Bay was once covered by boats carrying coal and oil across Australia. Unfortunately, the waters of the bay quickly became toxic, probably contaminated by these two materials! A big problem for Sydney, which had to wait for the economic boom that followed the 2000 Olympics to start getting by!
Today, the place has become a residential suburban area, but it’s still possible to get a glimpse of Home bush Bay’s industrial past – and it’s pretty! The most notable feature is probably the SS Ayrfield, an old abandoned and rusty cargo ship in which mangrove trees miraculously grew!
