Morgan Freeman decided to join the Air Force, even though he was offered a drama scholarship from Jackson State University. He served for 4 years until 1959 when he moved to CA to finally start his acting career.

Being from Austria, Schwarzenegger was required to enlist in the military for one year. Funny story, he snuck out of his base camp once just so that he could participate in the Jr. Mr. Europe contest.

He was stationed in Hawaii for four years. Ice-T believes the birth of his first child helped him muster up the strength to quit drugs and join the army: “when I had my daughter I was like, man, I’m going to go to jail, I got to do something, and I went to an enlistment office.”
