Jodrell Bank Observatory, United Kingdom
This observatory is located in a rural area in northwestern England, exempt from radio interference and one of the most outstanding radio astronomy observatories in the world. It started operating in 1945 and today it still works. Jodrell Bank has had a significant impact on different fields of study such as quantum optics or space shuttle tracking. UNESCO considers it exceptional because it represents the transition from traditional optical astronomy to radio astronomy, which has led to important discoveries on the understanding of the universe.
